In response to Blake’s ridiculous diesel post a couple nights ago, I felt that I had to share a far more reasonable truck for sale on my local CL.

Kinja'd!!!

2003 with the 6 liter PSD with just 157k miles. I’ve heard the 6.0l engines are not the greatest but for $8k, you get 20 feet of long bed, crew cab, hauling awesomeness. Plus what appears to be a reasonably clean leather interior. It is rwd only, which doesn’t bother me but might matter to some. I also love the low ride height.

At that point either the headgaskets have been replaced or it’s fine. The cheapness is due to it being 2WD AND  the 6.0.

I consider the RWD to be a feature, not a detriment. Lower drivetrain weight means more towing/payload capacity plus lower ride height makes loading and unloading easier, not to mention climbing into and out of the cabin.

where I am, something THAT long and so little weight over the rear wheel, it is more certianly a detriment.

As someone who tows regularly, I’ll take 4WD 100% of the time. Unless you are 100% certain it will never leave pavement while towing over 10k lbs or more , at some point you are going to wish it’s 4WD. We have 2WD Ram 3500s and a 4WD Ram 3500 , and with a trailer behind it you wouldn’t know. Well, actually you would because the 4WD is rated for 16k more. Besides, at it’s tow rating you need a CDL to max it out anyway. I’ve buried a 2WD truck in sand due to coworkers parking it badly, and had to drift around a building, 24' trailer in tow, because it rained and a coworker let it get boxed in.

2WD trucks are a dying breed, and that’s a good thing.

This is Oppo, trucks can’t be trucks, they must be low.

i mean, other wise for me, thats a GREAT truck. Long bed, easy to load bikes, great for highway hauling, can tow lots, carry me anda few friends ...

just the 2 wd bit is dumb

4WD generally adds a whole 2-3 inches in tailgate height.

It’s all about how it was taken care of. Those t rucks hate dirty oil and coolant. There is a couple update parts that would be cheap insurance too. They have a far better transmission than the 7.3L, which everyone forgets. For the price that is a REASONABLE diesel. I’d buy it if I needed to tow heavy loads and not need 4wd.

I'm with you. I've been driving 2wd trucks in Chicago winters for almost 20 years.

Yeah, but there is more than 4WD than just winter. Plus, you buy a 1 ton to tow, and having a 10k lb anchor behind you when it’s slick and you(or your employer) didn’t check that box is quite infuriating . Ask me how I know. I thought 2WD was pointless for trucks before I used them everyday, and using them for work has further enforced my factpinion.

I’m in the flatlands and I rarely leave the pavement. 4wd is cool, and I may get it next time I buy a truck, but I be simply don't need it.

Its easy enough to confirm in the flesh but it does the plate look photoshopped to anybody besides me ? I note that there are shadows all around but the plate is perfect.....

Like somebody cut and pasted it.

That truck is way to nice to be a Pennsylvania truck theres not rust or rot and as far as towing a boat its a couple hrs in any direction to use a 20 foot boat i lived in that area for 30 years till i moved south last November id be cautious about it

That’s a lot of truck for the money.

Regarding 4WD vs 2WD, I’m in the 4WD camp. No, it isn’t necessary most of the time, until you do need it, then you wonder why you got a heavy ass truck without it.

What enormous cabin cruiser is that guy towing? 20' of boat is sub 8 K lbs all day. Hell, I can tow most 20' boats behind my Taco. Depending on the boat I can go up to ~24 feet and still be okay.
